Speed reading

Category: Softwarefossmo @ 16:55

At Lifehacker there is a post about speed reading applications. I created a application for the same purpose for about a year ago.

If you want to try it out, download it from the link below. I find the application useful when I need to read a blog post or article fast.
You need Microsoft .NET 3.5 framework to run the application.
To read text, highlight it and then copy it to the clipboard and press Windows + ArrowDown.

Programming books I read this summer

Category: Books | Scrumfossmo @ 03:20

I have had vacation for a month this summer. I recommend it ;-) This has given me the opportunity to read some books. Not only fictional books, but also a couple of professional literature books. Both of them teaches best practices when developing. Head First Software development focuses on software development in the light of Scrum. A very nice book. I recommend people not familiar with Scrum to take a look at it. It explains things in a very brain friendly way. A great read. The other book I read this summer was Code Leader by Patrick Cauldwell. This book focuses more on best practices when developing software. When reading this book I found my self sitting nodding my head in recognition. Cauldwell has captured the essence of how I think software should be developed. Also a great read. I'm looking forward to the next book by this guy. If you do not have something to read right now, pick up one of these books.
